I need to know how to sue for medical bills resulting from a domestic assault.?
I left the state of TN to get away from my BF after having to have 7 stitches in my face from his head-butting me.
Just received a call that the doctor's fee portion of the resulting ER bill was not paid; it was over $1000 to put in the stitches. This is the first I have heard about the bill, but it has been turned into collections already.
I just learned that the DA's office where I lived dismissed the assault case they automatically file when domestic assault is reported (I had called months ago to see what was going on with the case but did not get a call back). They say there is nothing I can do (the assault was 5 months ago) to prosecute him at this point.
If my ex finds out that I cannot prosecute him, there is no chance I can get him to pay the bill. I am finding it hard to live with this situation. What can I do?
I left furniture, TVs, washer and dryer, etc. in his home. Can I at least get those back to sell?
there must be some reason that the DA dropped the charges.....they must have not gotten enough evidence against him to convict him..... im sorry but i think the only thing you can do is to call their office again and again until they answer these questions for you....
