Artichoke Lamp: A Classical Design For The Modernization Of Your House!

Light plays an important role in any festival or celebration in all traditions and cultures. While in the old tradition and even during the religious gatherings candles are used as the main source of light, you might consider a good artistic lamp for your home interior due to the fact that it gives a new attractive look to the entire environment. For home users design of the lamp is more important and you can always rely on the classical design of artichoke lamp.

Artichoke lamp design was originally designed by Paul Hennigsen in 1958. This design concept became so popular that several manufacturers tried to replicate as well as modified the original design to suit the style of their customers. Poul Hennigsen, the Denmark citizen was not only a good writer but his interest in architecture and other arts was very creative. He designed the lamp by including the artichoke as a symbol as the heart of the design and also used geometrical sound lamp that can reflect the light better and in an impressive manner more than any other lamps.

Artichoke is a flower of the species that belongs to sunflower and is unique as you can find its leaves surrounding the flower itself serving the purpose of protection and covering to add to the effect.

The first design of artichoke had a lamp that was surrounded by carefully crafted 72 copper leaves. The lamp was not visible from outside and the light produced has to be reflected through the outer design of the leaves. This unique geometry gives an impressive light source output and the lamp can be mounted on the ceiling to provide light to the entire room and the environment.

These lamps are now not at all new to the world as many of the offices, restaurants and homes have been decorated with its unique style.

At present you will also find the different versions of these lamps as a table lamp, buffet lamp, ceiling lamp or the one that can be mounted on the surface of the whole. To serve the purpose of mounting steel cable or copper wires can be used and the base of the table lamps also comes in different shape.

During the period of 1958-1972 this design of artichoke lamp was extremely expensive and only looked upon as a luxury item. The trend has been changed due to the fact that some alternative materials are being used now to serve the same purpose. While in the past gold and silver had been used for the design and finishing, now you can find some cost-effective and cheap designs made from plaster and molds.

You can get some cheap designs using the artichoke in the handle area of the lamp and it can be polished and finished with a good color to match the style of your home.
